The Tourist Running Guy

Guy at the Jagermeister Guy ran the Thunder Run on 23rd to 24th July 2016.

It was a 10k 24 hour relay race in which he aimed to run the cross country course 3 times including hills, tree roots, mud, pitch darkness and sleep deprivation. At 1:30 a.m. on the Sunday morning, 1.5k into his second lap he encountered a pot hole and twisted his ankle. Like a fool he chose the carry on and finished the course with a limp. That was the end of his Thunder Run and the beginning of a rather pleasant drinking session.

He does these crazy things partly for the fun* of it but mainly to raise funds for projects that Hothouse Theatre is involved in.

This time Guy was raising funds to support their work with the Crocus Dance Group which offer sequence dancing for the over 60’s helping them to keep healthy and to tackle isolation. Visit Crocus Dance and Social Group

* There are apparently dictionaries in dusty old forgotten corners of monastic libraries with definitions of “fun” that include flagellation and other forms of self abuse which allow it to be used in this context.
